Episode 14: Intercept, Engage, Confront

We’re not dead yet! In this episode, we dig up the “facts” about Bloodborne that everyone else has been too busy staring at the loading screen to discover; tell you what our brains think about Ori and the Blind Forest, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons and Deadbolt; report live from the red carpet (kinda) at the recent EGX Rezzed expo; and discuss the well-known bazooka obsession of late Nintendo president Hiroshi Yamauchi (or “Yamowchi”, according to Mark). Plus: SPACE ARK.

  1. What genre is Prime Trilogy, then? I’m stumped. 🙁

Nice theme for Space Ark, by the way, although you chaps need to nail your canon down. Luigi’s Mansion 2 just got put on a shelf for later, not hurled onto a corpse! And how can Yamauchi be in charge of the Ark, when he’s too busy being the moon’s face?

Also I am all the way up for Avian Attorney.

    • We’re going to need some kind of Rotating Platform wiki to keep our stories straight.

Metroid Prime Trilogy will be back for the “games viewed through a visor” genre 🙂

  2. Great episode guys. Thanks for mentioning Confidential Mission, I should have explained my nomination even though it is as corny and derivative as you suggest. It’s effectively the Dreamcast’s version of Virtua Cop, and I recall buying it at the time as it was the only game to utilise the light-gun that wasn’t called House of the Dead 2. It’s very Sega, but a lot of fun.
My memories of the SNES Super Scope are quite odd, as my friend that had a SNES (I had a Mega Drive, natch) only had one controller. Therefore, when I would go to his house to play Street Fighter after school, I would be lumped with the Super Scope. Trying to pull off Hadoukens with a bazooka on your shoulder is something I’ll never forget.

    • Ah, we should do a whole segment on playing games using inappropriate controllers. Isn’t there a video somewhere of someone completing a Mario game using a dance mat?
